WAO - World Affairs Online
	is one of the largest social science databases in Europe, containing more than 800.000 references, mainly journal articles, book chapters and grey literature.
	offers a comprehensive range of references on international relations and area studies, with a focus on foreign and security policy and European politics.
	has a unique cooperative structure, coordinated by the Stiftung Wissenschaft und Politik – German Institute for International and Security Affairs (SWP), with input from twelve German research institutes.
	WAO’s speciality is its use of a highly differentiated subject and regional classification and the multilingual European Thesaurus on International Relations and Area Studies, a joint product of European research institutes working in this field.
	evolved from the German federal government’s information programmes, which have existed since 1974, and is government financed.

New: Development aid policy focus in IREON

Inwent – Capacity Building International, the German government organisation to carry out human resource development and worldwide dialogue in the framework of development cooperation, now provides its main literature database LITDOK for research in IREON.

The LITDOK database includes 190,000 bibliographic references to journal articles, books, internet documents and grey literature.
The main focus of this collection is on development cooperation, developing countries and global economic development policy.

LITDOK uses subject terms of the "Thesaurus for economic and social development" for content description.

The European Thesaurus on International Relations and Area Studies is availaible in a
seven-lingual print edition.
The Thesaurus can be accessed online at the IREON Gateway.
